THE PRIME TIME PHILOSOPHY

At Prime Time Sports Camp we recognize that participating in athletics positively impacts a child's life in more ways than just the obvious physical benefits. The sense of accomplishment children gain from playing sports, seeing themselves improve and succeed, really enhances their confidence and self-esteem. Playing team sports helps kids learn necessary socialization skills, including how to work with others, and provides the framework for developing lifelong friendships. And, finally, kids learn valuable life lessons, such as the importance of setting goals, all the while knowing that it's not whether you win or lose but how you play the game that counts.

As such, we have made it our goal to offer sports programs for children that promote the importance of these values. We can think of no finer purpose than helping a child reach their full potential in life through their experiences in youth sports.

PETER STRAUS, Founder/Director 

Peter Straus has an extensive background working with children and athletics. In addition to having been the Physical Education Instructor at Castle Heights Elementary School and Westwood Charter Elementary School, he has worked with hundreds of athletes on an individual basis refining their skills in baseball, basketball and soccer. Peter holds a B.A. degree in History from U.C.L.A. and is currently coaching the Varsity Baseball Team at Palisades High School.

KENT CAMPFIELD, Palisades Director

Kent Campfield has been a fixture on the Pacific Palisades youth sports scene for the last nine years. Currently the P.E. coach at Marquez Elementary School, he has also directed and coordinated a number of sports leagues, day camps, and child care centers for the Pacific Palisades-Malibu YMCA. Kent worked in the same capacity at the Westside YMCA for an additional eight years prior to coming to Palisades. He has a wealth of experience training children in many different sports and activities.

Our camper-to-staff ratio is 6:1. this ratio provides each child with the individual attention necessary to help reach their full potential.
